Niagara Falls Bars Scene

Busy evening hot spots can be found around Clifton Hill, Niagara Falls The Niagara Region has a number of blessings that make for an interesting place for places to go out for a drink.
  • Firstly, the region attracts a lot of tourists, coming for the Falls, their wedding or honeymoon, for the Shaw Festival, a host of smaller festivals around the year, or for the many fine wineries.
  • Secondly, there are a number of post-secondary institutions in the region, including Brock University in St Catharines, several Campuses of Niagara College, and Niagara University on the New York side, all of which have students looking for nightlife, diversions, and the opportunity to hook up.
  • Thirdly, because the Niagara Region straddles the US border, the legal drinking ages vary with 19 being the age in Ontario, and 21 being the age in New York, so there is definitely some cross-border nightclubbing going on, where Americons looking to imbibe legally heading into Ontario, and where Canadians looking to avoid the younger crowd heading over to New York. Caution: do not attempt to cross the border under the influence, as you may get stopped and charged with any of several offences!
Because of these factors intensive nightlife is concentrated in three areas:
  • Niagara Falls' Clifton Hill
  • Niagara Falls New York
  • St Catharines' Downtown
