Local Information |
|
Niagara Falls is a town with nature on its side. The Niagara River moves huge volumes of water from the
Upper Great Lakes and Lake Erie to Lake Ontario, and on to the Atlantic.
The War of 1812-1814 between the United States and Great Britain & Canada fought many battles along the Niagara,
but ended with the borders unchanged. With neither nation able to expand north or south,
they both looked west to the western frontier. The region became the crossroads of the continent by two canals,
the Erie and the Welland, which connected each country's western interior their Atlantic port cities.
