Home: Pelham

Where
The Town of Pelham's 14,000 residents live northwest of the City of Welland. In the heart of Pelham is the Fonthill Kame, left behind by the last Ice Age. On its southern edge is the Niagara Central Airport, which also serves Welland and Port Colborne.

In 1970, the Town of Pelham was created to unify five historical communities: Fonthill, Ridgeville, Effingham, North Pelham and Fenwick into a single blossoming town covering 126.42 square kilometres. Pelham is primarily an agricultural area with tender fruit orchards and grape vineyards. The Fonthill area has undergone a building boom over the past dozen years with many businesses and neighborhoods being developed.

Homes
The community is mostly rural, with higher density along Canboro Road (#63) and the only urban area is the community of Fonthill, which also has the full slate of municipal services.

Schools
Pelham has 7 elementary schools, and 1 high school, and a public library. Just to the southeast is Niagara College's Welland campus

Shopping
There is a grocery store in Fonthill, but most residents head southeast to Welland for their shopping needs, where many shops and the large Seaway Mall are found along that city's Niagara Street.

Recreation
The community has 1 ice arena, 10 baseball diamonds, 2 tennis courts, 1 outdoor pool, 4 public & 1 private golf course. There are the St John's Conservation Area aand Short HIlls Provincial Park on the eastern boundary of Pelham. For compettive sports enthusiasts, there is the Fonthill Velodrome, and just west of #406 is the Merrittville Speedway.
